Gather around…

It’s New Years Eve and I sit near the fireplace with new people in my life and trying to defeat to get to the next level on Candy Crush. Occasionally interrupted and taking the risk to get to know them and enjoy their presence as we enter 2014.

“What’s your New Years Resolution?” someone asked.

“New Years Resolution? Well, I’m not crazy about them but just live this year and take more risks.  I’m sticking with something more realistic,” I said.

Realistic is as it comes and what brings life. Practicality can bring us closer to God than if we don’t do anything.  The next day, driving back to the city, I began to pray for what the new year brings. I came across Proverbs 4:20-22:
“My son (child), be attentive to my words;
    incline your ear to my sayings.
Let them not escape from your sight;
    keep them within your heart.
For they are life to those who find them,
    and healing to all their[a] flesh.

I belong in a place where I remember how God works in my life. If I live by His truth, it will affect everything I believe in and how I pray.

I believe this is year where more changes will be happening. I’m asking God for more, and not just more but encouraging me to take risks to understand our purpose in life. Which other verses that I came across mentioned are to testify God’s truth, even if He’s being denounced.

I’m excited for 2014 as much as I was for 2013. I hope you are as well and willing gather to do more for God in an expectant New Years.
